Awareness magazine front cover draft

This is a draft front cover for my awareness magazine, it shows a skyscraper as the stem of a leaf with the main story being entitled 'corporate green?'

To create this image I had to use stock photography off the website http://www.sxc.hu/

1. First I choose the pictures I wanted and then I pasted them into Photoshop
2. I then applied filters such as blurring over the picture
3. I then made the skyscrapers layer into a overlay putting an exclusion over the leafs colours
4. I then put an overlay of a glowing light over the picture
5. finally I added text and a bar code


I'm pretty happy with the final outcome but I think the space in the picture could be used a little better. If I were to change this picture I would make the image darker and give it a bit more texture using blend layers on top of the image. The text is also too close to the edges.
