Character Designs & The Northern Design Competition

As of a few days ago  I decided to enter he northern design competition under the animation category. I don't yet have a solid idea for what I'm doing for the story of the animation but I know I want my theme to be about global warming. I have also decided that I'm going to make the short episode around two to three minutes using  more traditional  methods of animation. I will still be using flash to make the animation but I will do a test animation which I can trace over and complete when I am satisfied with the end product. Here are some character  designs  for the main  character, my two favorite are the ones on the left but I think the character on the far left would be the easiest to animate because of his simplicity. My idea so far for the animation is that the main character goes on a search for electrical appliances when he looses all of his due to global warming. I want the animation to be light hearted and quirky. I have not yet decided whether I'm going to put dialog into the film but I think it would be worth while considering I just bought a professional studio condenser mic.
 

I also thought of making a Yorkshire themed animation as the competion is based in Leeds. I'm not so sure though I have Lanchashire blood in me.
